In Anglican traditions, every Cathedral has a Cathedral Cat. Especially in England most historic Cathedral is known for its Cat resident.
Kimberley Sherwood, the head sexton of Portland's Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, says she has seen a few feral Cats around the Cathedral grounds.
But apparently Trinity Cathedral is rather into dogs. After all this is home of the Canon Dr. Marcus J. Borg and his wife, the Rev. Canon Marianne Wells Borg, exceptional dog lovers. It has been even suggested that their dog be officially canonized... I mean appointed the official Canon Dog... or Ca-non-ine, not to be a saint!
On April 11, Trinity is receiving the new bishop, the Rt. Rev. Michael J. Henley. Maybe he might like the idea of this little tradition.
